just hoping somebody may have one of these...
got it for my mum so i don't have to worry about her rushing down the stairs to get the phone anymore
got the phone working fine & set it up ok, but the answerphone is
the base unit has all the buttons for the answerphone (so it's definitely the right model
), but the part on the menu where you set it up, just isn't there?!
it won't turn on from the base unit either, the display just says --, which means it's off.
i've emailed philips, but as it's the weekend now...
MTIA for any help

Have you looked HERE.
I take it you have a MANUAL.
FAQ:Answering Machine
The answering machine does not record calls.• Make sure the answering machine is connected to the power adaptor, and the
power adaptor is plugged into mains supply which is switched on.
• Check if the answer machine is off, or Answer only mode is selected.

err, yes i've checked the manual & the faq on the philips site didn't help. all connections & cables seem fine & the phone is working ok.
like i said, it won't turn on from the base unit & the 'answer machine' section in the menu just isn't there! (however bizarre that sounds).0 -
You do have the power pluged in?0

hmmm, yes - absolutely! i may 'sound' stupid, but honest, i'm not!0

just in case someone has a similar problem, Philips have come back & said -
With regards to this query we would advise that you reset the software in the telephone's base station.
To complete this process, please implement the following:
1) Disconnect the power cable from the main base station.
2) Remove the batteries from all of the handsets.
3) Leave for 30 minutes and then connect everything back again.
Please note that this process will not delete any telephone numbers from your phone book or any other saved information.
If applicable, you will need to set the time and date.
i don't know if this works yet, will get mum to try it when i speak/see her next.0 -
Thanks for the update.
Let us know how you get on as it may help others in the future.0 -
Can anybody recommend a decent cordless answerphone (3 or 4 handsets) please? Our BT STUDIO 1500 is driving my husband mad - it deletes messages automatically as soon as they are played and does not give us the chance to listen again if the message is incoherent.Jesus loves you:j Everybody else thinks you're an idiot:rolleyes:0

I've just been through this buying process and it's not easy. There are SO MANY on the market now it's almost impossible to choose!
I initially bought a Motorola set, the 802 which is a 2 pack but the 803 is a 3 pk etc... 812 has answer machine plus 2 handsets, 813 has answer machine + 3 handsets etc
Anyway, I 'assumed' that Motorola knew what they were doing with phones. The set consists of a separate base station that you put near the BT socket and then the handsets can go wherever you like. Clever. The base station also has a SIM copy facility, also clever but my address book on my sim is rather full and has multiple numbers for each person and the Motorola couldn't handle that very well. It also meant that I had to go through and programme 18185 before each mobile etc.
Well, the crux of the matter and maybe the most important point, the sound quality was rubbish. A constant hiss on the line. The base was placed exactly where my last one was, previous phones were clear as a bell - BT Synergy followed by BT Diverse.
I had thought about buying another BT but have read bad reviews recently about bad sound quality.
Also, the Motorla didn't always pick up my key presses.
SO, took it back to currys for a refund.
Bought a Panasonic KXTG8322 with answer machine (8323 has 3 handsets, 8324 has 4) and it is FANTASTIC!! It communicates with itself very well, I set the time on one handset and it immediately transferred to the other. I delete a missed call from one, it deletes from the other (Motorola couldnt' do that) It has night mode where you can tell the bedroom handset not to ring at certain times of the day - perfect as my OH works nights and sleeps days so I have it switched off in the day. It has yet to miss a button press. I can send SMS using it (once set up with BT). It can visually let me know when I have a 1571 message! The sound is clear as a bell. And so much more...
Only 1 down side - it's not cheap.
