Low energy bulb replacement to increase light?

Having installed a ceiling fan with a centre light, I saw that the sticker said that maximum bulb size should not exceed 60 watts.
Is this because of the bulb HEAT generated, and I can safely get 50% more light, by fitting a 15 watt (or thereabouts) low energy bulb (which runs cool),but would give perhaps 100 watts of light?
Thanks in anticipation.

probably a combination of the heat and the current rating of the cables, so anything below the 60w rating will be fineUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

The 60W limit assumes you are using incandescent lamp bulbs. Anything greater would overheat the fitting. Go ahead with the higher rating low energy bulb.0

I have used a 30 watt energy-saving bulb in our bathroom and it works fine.0

Don't think current rating of the cable has much to do with it, 60W at 250 volts is only .25 of an amp. It would have to be mighty thin wire to have a current rating that low.Nothing to see here, move along.0
