Salary sacrifice schemes for childcare

I am trying to get my workplace to introduce a salary sacrifice scheme for childcare (tax and NI savings). Has anyone helped to implement such a scheme and do you know what, if any, savings the employer can make? My workplace already has the voucher scheme in place (for NI savings).
All info would be gratefully received. My university bosses have sat on this for months with no explanation and we're getting fed up!

Thanks for that info. I don't know if the present salary sacrifice system, which comes under a law enacted in 1988, will be affected. It applies specifically to workplace creches (and company cars, pensions and other benefits) so presumably they would have to close the loophole.
The new law capping at £50 a week the amount that one can get tax and NI free, is a stingy piece of legislation. The government is again shafting people who can't afford to stay at home with the kids!Stercus accidit0 -
I was partially involved in the implementation of our childcare voucher scheme. I posted previously on a thread about this and couldn't remember the company name (post pregnancy brain horrors!!), now I can. We used a company which was called Accor, http://www.childcarevouchers.co.uk/

When we did it a couple of years ago you needed to apply to the inland revenue for them to recognise the company as childcare voucher providers and for approval for the vouchers to be deducted from salary prior to other deductions. It was a very simple process though it can take time as the inland rev can be a pain at times.
Then midway through every month you provide Accor with a spreadsheet of what staff have chosen to have deducted from their pay for the vouchers and they send the vouchers to their home address on the last working day of the month.
The vouchers can be redeemed by all childcare suppliers (other than very close relatives) most childcare providers have a link with Accor, and every month or so they send them in to Accor and get a cheque. If you are using a childminder and they aren't registered, all they need to do is fill out a very simple form and send it off and they too can then get the vouchers refunded.
