barclays

ok i ahd a student accoutn with them in 1997-200ish and it got nasty and i payed off my overdraft with them, i also told them to close the account. i then got myself another non-current account with antionwide and then 2 years ago got a current account with nationwide. the thing is barclays have just written to me with a bank statement telling em about my 0.01£ balance, does this mean i still ahve this account and will it be affecting my credit rating even though it has been payed off in full and not used for over 4 years? also i am moving house and wanted to set up a seperate account for bills direct debits to the rent etc joint with my girlfriend (unfortunately mrs flybynight has very poor credit rating and doesn't even have a current account) with no cashcard just a book and direct debit facilities. does it sound like i can just apply for a passbook for this account and then add her on to it?

Sounds like it is still open and could be reactivated.

Not sure if her credit rating will impact adding her name to the account, but why does account need to be in joint names anyway?

Nationwide might be able to offer you a second account too in joint names if you ask nicely.

Smile :), it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
  • its a cunning plan to slowly sneak her credit rating up .... by her having a current account on her files.. even though she won't be controlling it, as she hasn't had any kind of credit / current account for 4 years
