in Credit cards
hi just a quick one
my partner is wanting to rebuild her credit history, problem is we have found out she as 2 ccj's one for tuition fees from uni that she should not have been paying anway but thats another story. and the other is from a parking fine from weymouth ( i did'nt think you could get a ccj from that as it is a driving offense) but some how she as.
so far her bank as allowed a £140 overdraft will this help the cause?
i've heard aqua card maybe a place to start and vanquis anybody had any dealings with these companies?
we are not really wanting to use cap one as i have had problems with them a few years back.
thanks very much for your time

Only other one to try is Barclaycard Initial.
CCJs are nasty ones to have though and she really ought to see if she can get them removed. Particularly the tuition fees one if that is a genuine error.
I'm not sure an 'impaired credit' credit card is going to rebuilt the credit history as such and it is going to be a case of waiting until the CCJs drop off the credit report before she gets access to the full range of cards and loans at decent rates.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

the uni said they never recieved any letter stating her parents income therefore she would be liable for the fees.
we do have a copy of the letter sent but we have been told because the debt is older than 9 months even if we can prove the letter it is to late.
is this the case?
we have had a letter today stating
debt at time £3000
payment offer reduce by 50%
total £1500
would this mean we have to pay £1500 in one go and that is it? LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -

Parking is no longer a criminal offence and most councils have taken over parking enforcement. Therefore, it is entirely possible for her to have a CCJ for an unpaid parking ticket.0 -

Thats fine as long as you don't overhang the footpath! Our council make a mint from that one especially this time of year when the evenings are dark and you don't spot them out there.0 -
Would this make sense then
i pay my cc in full every month
so if we managed to get her a vanquis card 58.9% i just looked
we could then pay mine in full then use that money again to pay what ever was on her card.
that right?
thanks again niteflyer:beer: LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0 -
Yeah, that will work
I was offered a Vanquis card at 59% but when I actually recieved it, it came at 33% so you may be lucky like me
But, at the end of the day it doesn't matter if the interest rate is 33%, 59% or 1500% because if you use it wisely and put £50 or so on a month (or whatever you can comfprtably afford to repay every month) and pay it back in FULL every month you won't pay any interest
After 6 months you will start to have a decent track record with a line of credit and that will look great on your credit file.
But........PLEASE REMEMBER always pay back at least the MINIMUM payment or you will get a default on your file and you will be back to square one
Hope this helps

It is very unlikely that she will get accepted for the like of Egg, Mint, Cahoot etc... at the moment but she will probably get accepted for Capital One but MIGHT have to pay a security deposit (£49-£200).
But in time after keeping a couple of good lines of credit, she will find more and more companies accepting her.
Hope that helps
