sony or toshiba

I am looking into buying a new laptop and have 2 in mind a sony vaio tx or a much cheaper Acer TravelMate. They are both lightweight, which is what i want, the sony has battery life of up to 7 hours. They both seem to have same size memory the Acer is here:

Sony here:http://www.bluefi.co.uk/news/sony_vaio_tx_carbon_fiber_notebook.html

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sony audio, TV, MD, MP3 etc good, Sony laptops ...errm, sorry wouldn't recommend them. Had one several years ago, over-styled, under-engineered - never again (even if they have improved considerably).

ps - thread title mentioned toshiba - would recommend these (unless they have degenerated considerably..!)

I have a Toshiba and a Sony and like them both .

I'd recommend either make , don't think there's much to choose between them personally icon14.gif

  • From your response and my partners I've crossed acer off the list! I've come back now to The toshiba! The one i fancied was a featherweight one which i found here http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39030092,39190959,00.htm

The Sony Vaio TX weighs 2.8 pounds making it featherweight too and has a 6+ hour lasting battery. Seem to get very mixed reactions over sony but this does look like a pukka laptop...
