Problems with on/off button on shower

Okay, only a little problem, lol!
Thing is seeiing as how we're moving thought we'd better sort any minor wee problems out
Shower works perfectly, but when switching it off, unless the button is pressed really quite firmly the shower will continue to run. This is a nuisance because sometimes you think it's off cos the button clicks anyway but only when it continues to run you realise you need to push the button again firmly. It takes about 4 seconds for the water to actually stop anyway once the button is pressed
FYI it's a Gainsborough 10.5 SDL (don't know if that makes a difference or not!)
Any ideas how to cheaply fix this please? Moving house is a costly enough business! I just realise the impotance of leaving everything in good working order and worry the new owner will think it faulty. It's not, just an awkward button!
TIA

Try opening the shower up and checking the switch isn't broken. If you take off the badge above the temp. control valve (should just pull off) and remove the screw the cover should just lift off. You may have to remove the water hose first.
Inspect the inside of the cover to ensure the switch isn't broken and inspect the actual on/off valve on the shower unit. Should be a small square plastic plate with a spring behind it. Make sure that isn't broken. you can remove the whole valve and strip it down if you wish to get right into it, try just cleaning it tho as it may just be clogged up. If you are going to strip it down, switch off the water and power first.
You may get replacement parts from https://www.gainsboroughshowers.co.uk or you can download an instruction manual for the shower from

Is it helpful to say - I think you're being too conscientious?
If I were moving into your house I honestly don't think I would be too upset to find a note on the shower saying 'on/off switch sometimes sticks, but does work. Water takes about 4 seconds to stop after switch is pressed - if it doesn't go off, press the switch again'.
Maybe other people feel differently? But I honestly wouldn't expect everything to be perfect when I move (and I understand that most people replace the bathroom anyway, although I have never done this until it needed it!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
