A great deal by contacting your current supplier?

If you have a genuine problem with your account don't negotiate with the call centre agent. Ask to be put through to the department that that deals with complaints, mentioning that your problems may lead to you changing supplier.
Over the last 5 years I have had problems with Scotish Power (Excessive requests to change direct debit), Powergen (Annual rebate) and Atlantic (Not using my meter reading at a price increase). In all these cases, (involving Energy Watch in 2) my complaint has been upheld, and I have been offered a nice one off allowance (goodwill payment) not to change supplier.0 -

Scottish Power's fixed rate makes no penalty charge if the reason is to move house.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -
What i would really like to see is a price comparison site that gives the actual unit prices for all their tariffs.
I`m starting to mistrust the comparison sites after getting so many dfferent answers.

If you use uswitch they will give you the pence per unit. You need to know exactly what price plan you are on with your present supplier so they can compare. failing that I would ring the supplier the comparison site says just to double check or see if you can see it on their website.0 -

One or other (or both) told me the unit price I was paying on my current deal, but got it wrong.0 -
Well to be honest I would still ring the supplier and ask them what they charge as that should be accurate!0

Thanks for all the replies.
Theo...I will be keen to see what answer you get, please post whatever the outcome is. Bt the way, who are you with?
They only offered me tariffs from their published selection (no special "under the counter" deals).
They did at least give me an illustration of my savings on various tariffs based on my actual KWh consumption, which was helpful and - if nothing else - lets me explore the comparison switching websites with more confidence.0
