Dead proud of first ever DIY plumbing job

Just want to show off.
The other day my loo stopped flushing. In the past I would have just called a plumber straight out but I'm strapped for cash at the mo so before doing so, I decided to take a look myself.
Luckily I have a 3 part siphon that comes apart without even having to empty the cistern. Took the main bit off, looked inside, saw a very broken diaphragm, went to B&Q, got a new one for £1.28, fitted it and I'm flushing again.
So even if you're a complete plumbing noddy, try that next time your flush breaks.
Best DIY I'd ever done before that was put three shelves up in my lounge, managing to get them equal distances above each other, parallel, straight, and with the brackets lined up for each.

LOL. To be honest I would have wimped out if I had to take apart any joint that was sealed and then re-seal it. I don't touch anything electrical or plumbing where there's a risk of causing/leaving a leak! What I had to do was stupidly simple, but I'll know in future to check for a split diaphragm before calling a plumber.

We fitted new sinks in our house ourselves - with no plumbing experience. And to top it off, 25mm in Ikea and 25mm in B&Q where not the same, so it took us a while to sort it out!!! But we did it in the end and we were so proud of it! I even did the tiling myself (never done it before either), fitted vinyl... And I am female with a job and education that has nothing to do with handy-work! We loved our hosue to bits!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

Thats a big saving if you had to get a plumber out plus the waiting0
