Problems with Elephant and/or Confused.com

It pays not to be honest...

I have just taken out a car insurance policy with Elephant, after getting the cheapest quote via Confused.com and going through Cashback Junction to get money back. However it seems I have been caught out by the system and now Elephant want nearly £10 more for being honest. I filled in all details as honestly and accurately as I could on Confused's website, and as I know my registration number I typed it in and it brought up my car: FORD FIESTA GHIA 1996-2000 1388cc 5 DOOR HATCHBACK Manual PETROL. All well and good, I took out the policy with Elephant. However I noticed the documents show the year of manufacture as 2000 (my car was registered in that year) but my V5 log book says 'Declared manufactured 1999'. So I rightly called Elephant who now want £9-25 to amend the policy!!! At no point during the application was I EVER asked for the EXACT year of manufacture of my car so why should I pay this money when the root cause of this issue is inadequate communication between Elephant and Confused.com? What should I do? Should I complain to anyone, and if so who?

Complain! If thats what came up when you typed in your registration number why should you have to pay extra?
Now this leaved me wondering about my car manufacture date?

If you never said anything, and *touch wood* you had to claim would this make your policy invalid?

Just complained to Elephant and they are going to waive the amendment fee. RESULT!!!
