yram_slim wrote:I was cautious about expending a lot of money on an electric/tronic timer system. This was going to cost in the region of £40 (cheaper to buy organic tomatoes from the shop). Also, the greenhouse is a considerable distance from the hose tap. Where can I get the kit form you mention?
What about this:

i've bought from this ebay store and had no problems. 10 Litres might not be enough if you've got lots of plants and are away for a long time.
The bits from the kit are sold in B&Q. I'm off there tonight so will check some prices for you.
The timers can be bought fairly cheap on ebay. The most expensive electronic display timers are about £40 from the likes of B&Q. I'll have a look on ebay for you (looking for myself too so no going out of my way).0 -
smk77 - I've had a look at this - it looks quite promising. I only have a small amount of plants but usually go away for a couple of weeks in the summer - so, the greenhouse is really hot at a time when the plants need most watering. (I have never had much success with outdoor varieties in the north east of England, plus I don't really have the space).
Thank you all very much for your help.0 -
ok, this is what I found in B&Q
£5 for 1m of 7mm drip pipe.
£2.98 for an adapter you plug your hose pipe in one side and drip pipe in the other.
£2.98 for a 10 drippers.
I also noticed a load of clearance items. Simple watering kits showing the watering of 8 hanging baskets. They were reduced from £20 to £20. Boxes were wrecked hence reduction.
Plenty of timers on ebay. Just search "timer garden".0 -
Thanks again for your ideas - I'll have a look next time I'm in B&Q.0
