Rather than keep the heating on over night, do you use a hot water bottle instead to save money?

  Keep heating on overnight?? That's what duvets are for, surely. Not used a hot water bottle since I was a kid. Only problem with them is they go cold (not forgetting the cost of boiling the kettle! :D )

I love my hot water bottle. I have one with a lovely furry cover. In fact, I will confess, I was using it just a couple of weeks ago. This was before this spell of nice warm weather obviously.

I always have cold feet and the HWB works a treat.

i love my hot water bottle i use it once my daughter is in bed at night and the house starts to cool down to heat me up rather than putting the heating on.

I have a microwaveable wheatie bag thing, great for sore muscles and stiff necks, as well as warming the bed.

Have also found that new foam matress retains heat once well warmed up.

To get the chill off bed sheets you can blast them with hairdrier for a few seconds (top tip when returning from long holiday when heat has been off/turned down).

And of course use a duvet with tog rating appropriate to the weather.

I forsee a run in the shops on fleecy pyjamas this winter ....

My friends' Dad is a gas engineer, and he told me you're better of keeping you're heating on constatntly low in winter, rather than switching off completely at night and then firing it up high in the day.

I haven't used a hot water bottle since I was a kid and we don't usually have the heating on during the night.
