Capital One Card

I applied for Martin's recommended capital one card. My credit score is over 900 and I met the criteria. Just received a letter saying that they couldn't give me that card but would give me Platinum - 0% on purchases/transfers until May 2009 with interest rate of 24.9% thereafter. Just wondered if I should accept this card and tart in May 2009 or are there are better options
Bit annoyed that there is no particular reason that I can see for not getting what I thought I was applying for

You've had the credit search and they've offered you the card. If I were you I'd take it and use it for purchases between now and May 2009.0

Same thing happened to me last week, very annoying, you could try appealing, they should have given you a reason why you didn't get the card, it might still be worth using it for the interest free period then paying it off, and closing it down.0

Same thing happened to me too.
I fit all the criteria listed on their site for an excellent credit rating, have also recently checked all 3 of my credit files (no problems there) but still got a letter saying they were offering me the classic card 0% until 1st Feb 2009! then 24.9% after that.
whats a girl got to do these says to get a balance transfer!
I figured I'd get the Cap one card. BT to that then wait and see if the cleared card offer me anything when Feb comes around. Better than another search IMO0 -
I came to same conclusion - they've done all the searches so might as well take advantage and accept the card! I'd be interested to know just how many people actually get what we thought we were applying for !0

I applied and got a credit limit of £4000 with 0% on transfers and purchases until October 2009.0

They've offered me 0% until May 2009 but it says minimum credit limit of £500. Does this mean that's all I'll have when I receive the card?0

The card offers a minimum of £500 and a maximum of £16,000. Your credit limit will lie somewhere inbetween.0 -
That's just what it says in the letter in a list of benfits. I'll think I'm going to take it and use it for purchases until May.0

I've just had the same thing happen - they've offered me a Platinum card instead with 0% on balance transfers & purchases 'til May 2009 & 19.9% variable thereafter.
Was puzzling why I'd been turned down for the offer when my credit score is fine, very relieved to know it's nothing untoward!0
