Electrical Work

Hi Guys,

Need some help, there was plywood covering over an internal door in my flat which I removed because I have seen other flats in the street, and they have a window above the door which would let much more light throught the house.

The problem is when whoever done the house rewiring they took a shortcut through this window and there is a mains power cable running through going to the fuse box!

I would like to run the cable round the window but would like to know the safest but cheapest way to extend it. Is there any reason not to cut the wire and apply a junction box at each end? if so is there a specific type of box?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert
