Have just been trying to find out information on company health through the companies house website. http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/f19cd34984a4c46736c23545df29c9ea/wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo
Unfortunately because wrapit decided to its extend its FY (always a warning sign) the company has only disclosed its 2006 accounts. The company lost GBP630k loss in the year to Dec 2006 and had to raise a similar amount from directors/ other parties...... More digging needed....
Looks like a number of directors of the board have been resigning of late.0 -
Alice Lancaster has made the post below on the Facebook page.
I think everyone should follow Alice's suggestion.
The fate of Wrapit, and thus our guests' gifts, appears to be in HSBC's hands, and therefore the more pressure that can be put on HSBC, the greater is the chance of Wrapit being rescued.
To go one step further, I know some readers of this forum are due to make statements / give interviews to the media early this week and I urge you to take advantage of the opportunity to highlight publicly that it is HSBC that has failed to offer any reassurance to thousands of Wrapit's customers, and probably tens of thousands of HSBC's own customers whose payments that HSBC has placed in jeopardy.
IN SHORT, THIS CAN CONTINUE TO BE A MAJOR NEWS STORY AND THE MORE THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CRISIS AND ITS RESOLUTION CAN BE MADE TO BE SEEN TO LIE WITH HSBC THE BETTER.

I am sorry that you – like us - are going through the difficult time with Wrapit. I am writing to you all, because I think there is something specific you can do to help.
As a banker myself, I know that banks like HSBC take complaints – especially senior ones – very seriously. I therefore propose we all write individually to the Group Chief Executive, asking him to help sort this out for Wrapit and therefore us.
I know that if enough of us write, it will really put this on the agenda and the bank will think more carefully about what they do to support Wrapit delivering our gifts to us. So please consider writing to HSBC and also ask your spouse/ future spouse (that is a cool feeling by the way !!) to write also
Please note: It must be a letter, as emails/ faxes/ telephone calls are not taken with the same seriousness. The letter I will write will say something like this (please personalise your own, because otherwise it looses effect)
* On the most important day of my life, I have used one of your customers, Wrapit, as a crucial supplier – they run my wedding list.
* They have written to me to say they are in financial difficulties and may not be able to produce the wedding gifts my guests have given me
* Wrapit puts fault with HSBCs dealings with them
* I am writing to ask you to urgently review what you are doing with Wrapit – they say their deadline is this Wednesday.
# There are thousands of other couples like me in absolute panic about this
# They in turn each have a hundred guests, friends and family and they will need to explain to all of them Wrapit's - and therefore your - failure
# Weddings are such emotional times, and a wedding list failing like this is something that brings out strong feelings.
# These tens of thousands of people are potential customers of HSBC, and more importantly also businesses and decision makers who chose or influence whom to bank with
# To be clear, if this cannot be resolved, I shall never do business with you again, and will strongly discourage all the people and businesses I work with to do the same
# Your actions are likely to make a strong impression, given the emotional feelings about weddings.
# I am asking you to look again at what you could do to help Wrapit.

Please post your letter this Monday, so it has time to get there and have an impact.
I am copying the email to Wrapit, so they are informed of my suggestion, but I must make clear they are in no way involved in this action.
Good luck to us all with this - and 1000 time more important still - with the happy lives ahead in marital bliss !0 -
I have responded to those people who have PMd me - please give me your email address if you want me to forward to you also. I don;t want to put a third party's email on here, a public forum, without their consent so do let me have your email. I won;t use it for anything!
Great advice ref mentioning HSBC in interviews and I will be sure to do that tomorrow in my BBC interviews.
Keep posting and getting the word out poeple - it is vital we move quickly and en masse to try and salvage our gift lists.
The credit card refudn will only count if the gift is worth £100 or more - I don;t know about you, but my guests simply weren;t that generous! So we we will lose our gifts if WrapIt goes under.

All the credit card issuers I've spoken to will assist with a disputed transaction of any size (and you don't need to take them to court, just call them!).

THis is my letter to HSBC, in case it helps anyone with theirs (but do change it around so it's not the same!:
Dear Mr Geoghegan,
I got married five weeks ago, on June 21. In December, my then-fiance and I chose one of your customers, WrapIt, to run our gift list, a most crucial aspect of any wedding.
They have emailed me to tell me they are in severe financial difficulties, and that as a result they may not be able to provide us with the gifts that our guests have paid for via their website.
Obviously, this is devastating news, not least because they spent their money in good faith, and if WrapIt goes into administration we have little realistic chance of ever getting our gifts, or of our guests getting their money back.
Despite WrapIt’s claims, most people’s guests have paid under £100, or used a debit rather than credit card, and are therefore not covered in law and will not be able to get refunds. Wedding insurance does not cover this type of situation.
Our only hope is you, Mr Geoghegan.
WrapIt blames you – HSBC – and your dealings with them for the current situation.
I plead with you to urgently review what you are doing with WrapIt. They say their deadline is this Wednesday.
There are hundreds, possibly even thousands, of other couples like me, in a dreadful panic and not knowing what is going to happen.
All of us have at least 100 guests and each of these people will have to be contacted to have WrapIt’s, and therefore HSBC’s, failure explained to them.
I’m sure you understand that weddings are emotional events, and that there will be very strong feelings and reactions to a failure to honour wedding gift list purchases, paid for in advance and in good faith.
This means that there are tens of thousands of people who are potential customers of HSBC, including decision-makers and businesses who choose, or influence the choice of, the bank for major companies, who will be affected and think badly of HSBC as a result.
This is a potential PR disaster for you, but you have the power to avert it, and in so doing to help couples like us.
If you fail to help, I will never do business with you or your subsidiaries again, and I will discourage everyone I know and do business with from dealing with you as well.
Because of the strong emotions around weddings, your actions will make a strong impression on people. Please make your actions the right ones.
Remember that the money paid by guests is not WrapIt’s, nor is it HSBC’s. It belongs to the guests and to the couples they bought gifts for using it. Do you want to be responsible for tens of thousands of disappointed, upset and angry people, when it is in your power to do something to make it right?
I beg of you to look at what you can do to help WrapIt and bring about a positive resolution for the tens of thousands of people affected by this.
Thank you for your time reading this letter.
Yours sincerely,:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I am having a Civil Partnership in August and found out on Friday about Wrapit. I have sent a letter to Mr M.F Geognegan CBE and sent it recorded. I hope he responds. Also I don't know about everyone else but I am getting inundated with emails from other customers as Pepita Diamands' signature was on the email using cc instead of bcc. So not respecting data protection act. If any one else is having the same problem please don't use the emails to respond but use sites like these and also Facebook and Myspace. Tahnks and good luck.0

I am happy to get the emails. I'd rather be part of a group than working on my own in this. Not everyone is on here or the FB group. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I am going to stick my oar in now - no one has asked WrapIt why HSBC are withholding £1million. There has to be a reason for it, is it that HSBC are owed bank charges or other fees? Why haven't WrapIt submitted their accounts for 2007?
I don't think that HSBC is the problem - the problem lies with WrapIt and their inability to keep their house in order by accepting money from customers for goods that they have no intention of supplying. As they are in such financial difficulty it beggars belief that their website is still operating and taking orders for gifts.
What is it that WrapIt aren't telling you? Is it the fact that they are blaming HSBC when in fact they could already be in voluntary administration?
Your beef with with WrapIt and not HSBC. If Pepita is sending global emails to everyone and not blind copying then she is breaking the rules of the Data Protection Act and people should therefore lodge a complaint with the Data Commissioner.0
