Divorce advice please

Once one has sorted out the finances (amicably? ) I'm under the impression you can do a do-it-yourself divorce. A trawl through google gave prices from £40 = costs to £300.

how cheaply can I do it ?

thanks

I have never heard of this

when my sister got divorced , she had to wait 3yrs before they would start proceedings and then because her husband contested it she had to wait another 2yrs and if he contessed it again she would have had to wait another 2 yrs again (which he didnt) and then she could divorce him without his permission.

The actual divorce you can do yourself. You can download all the forms you need from the courts website and submit them yourself. All you will pay then is the court fees for the nisi and absolute.
Depending on the assets and if there are any children it may be worth paying for an hour with a solicitor to draw up the consent order just to make sure there are no comebacks. Judges also seem to like evidence of some sort of legal advice being taken. If there are few assets and no children you can probably skip it.
No reliance should be placed on the above.
