channel tunnel - if we arrive earlier is there any chance we can leave earlier??

Off to France next week and booked on 11.00am, I realise we have to check in earlier but just wondered if nay one has any experience if we arrive say two hours earlier, do they ever let you travel earlier?

Yes they do if they have availability on that train, but if you go inside listen out for announcements as if you are not there on time they will not let you on,

    Have a great time:beer:

It depends on when and which day you are travelling because if you are travelling in the next few weeks, there is little chance of being allowed to go on an earlier shuttle during the day time hours. Your time of travel may make the chances more likely though.

I travel to work by Eurotunnel and our buses go through there 6 times a day (there's also about 20 cars per day too) and we must be one of Eurotunnel's biggest tourist customers yet we are made to wait for the shuttles we are books on when we turn up early at the moment. Delays on Eurotunnel are frequent now, especially if you are in a coach as so many of the carriages suffer mechanical problems.

Thanks for all your help. We are a car and caravan so it sounds like we'll have to wait never mind.

Don't suppose any one can recommend a stop over camp site near tunnel for our return journey?

If you get to the terminal early you will normally be allowed on the earlier train if it falls within your time/price band. When you get to the self check-in machines it will normally allow you to select the earlier train if you have time to make it and there is space. Or you could ask the check-in clerk at the booth if you do manual check-in.

But.......... I'm getting increasingly hacked off with Eurotunnel. Every time I have travelled with them this year (about 7-8 times) I have been delayed on the Folkestone-Calais journey. Delays going back are less noticeable. Nearly every time the train has been late leaving, we've been stuck queuing on the ramp for 30+ minutes and twice I have been denied boarding because of too many "long cars" which means that instead of 5 cars per carriage only 3 or 4 will fit. There are no announcements and the staff don't know what is happening.

I'm either going to book early now or use the ferries because there's no time difference with the delays.
