Cheapest place to get a Camera Repair?

Hello,
Don't know if this is the right forum so feel free to move it if needed.
I have spent the day out with our children tpday and took our very expensive Canon EOS 400D Camera out with us as it provides fantastic shots.
However, have come home and even though I have no idea what happened to it, the digital screen looks smashed when you turn it on, but there is no visible crack to it.
I bought this camera second hand from a camera shop in Halifax town centre but get the feeling they won't be the cheapest to take it to be repaired.
Does anybody know of anywhere that would be reasonable? I can tell OH is incredibly miffed with me and I want to get this done as fast as possible.
Please help
