What to put under a climbing Frame?

Hi

Any ideas? We have a TP climbing frame to go up this weekend and at the moment just a bear section of garden. We have taken up the decking to put it down!
Any ideas? Grass, rubber? bark?
Want something cheap and non-messy!
Kids are 3 and 5.
Heard about some rubber mulch from old tyres. I like the sound of this as would not degrade and need refilling like bark. Grass may be hard to grow under a climbing frame.
Please help me, any links would be appreciated!
Thanks x

The rubber bark seemed very expensive when we were looking at it for our old garden. I looked at all options but in the end settled for actual Playbark. It is bigger lumps that doesn't seem to have sharp edges and splinters sticking out of it. We bought it from a local aggregates supplier. It cost about £150 but covered a large area.

How about some interlocking mats which lets grass grow through them? I found some on ebay - item no 140250607143. Apparently these ones have a critical fall height <?> of almost 3 metres.

My daughter has this in her garden. It wasn't very expensive and I'm sure you can get it from eBay too:- http://www.safetyplay.co.uk/kinder/index.php
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Homebase are doing 10 kilo bags of rubber mulch, down from £15 to £5, but if you buy more than 5 bags it scans through at £3 a bag. I found this on hotukdeals and it worked for me.

My friend put it down underneath her kids multigym and regrets it. The weeds come through even though it was pretty thick and the local cats thought it was a great toilet.

Would she do it again? Probably not as she had to keep topping it up too.

    Hope this helps.
