So, as I've had the dangerous parts replaced, I've now scuppered the chance of getting the costs paid back. Which in turn has removed rejection from the equation?

Oh - the HT lead (sorry - was late night typing!) - had caused a short, which in turn caused a misfire when starting, which utlimately lead to the cat going south....

Thanks again for your time on this - really appreciated!

That's it in a nutshell, but have a word with Trading Standards.

You might have difficulty getting all the money for the service back, but you might be able to get the cost of parts back from seller and maybe a bit towads labour.

Lesson learned for you. And you should have asked for the warranty to be written not verbal.

    Hi all,

    Update time:

Had phonecall from garage which I took car to for the service - told I had two main faults.

The catalytic converter - which was expected

    and

    A power steering fault.

The guy had an interesting update - when phoning around for the best price for the steering pump, his supplier mentioned that the garage which I bought the car from had been phoning around last week (before I bought the car) for the very same part. Obviously this is a concern. What should I do?

I took the car back to the dealer, and they are looking at it from Monday. Am I entitled to a hire car? Or reclaim expenses for vital travel?

    Thanks in advance!!
