hi there
every time i try and install service pack 3 ( from automatic updates or by click the windows update icon ) , it just stops at creating cabinets, and will not go any further, i have made sure i have disabled my internet connection, and stopped my anti-virus, firewall, malware protection etc so these do not interrupt with the install , whilst it installs, but no joy , many thanks for any help
thing i have tried so far ( but no joy);
clear all temp files
disk clean up
disk defrag
removed all files and folders under c:\windows\softwaredistribution
then restarted start automatic update service and try again.
thank you for any help

if that does not work then reboot into Safe mode (keep pressing f8 on boot up and select safe mode) and run the installer again if that doesnt work then i will have to have another thinkThe orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.0
