surely i cant be the only one with concrete floors and central heating pipes running along many of my walls. they are above the skirting height as you can see in these pics:

any ideas what to do with them? the room is currently empty i am painting the ceiling and waiting for a new carpet. anyone else had to deal with these? got any pics of what you did? they do look pretty ugly even after a quick coat of paint. i got the ceiling skimmed as i felt the old stipple artex let the room down after painting, now i'm thinking the pipes are letting it down!

Ours are like that and then they go up the wall and round the ceiling too in some rooms
We are in a flat with concrete floors.
Ours is housing association so we can't do much - but found painting them the same colour as the wall (rather than the skirting) hid them a little better. Some round the ceiling we have boxed in, but even that isn't idealworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Couple of ideas for you.

Not sure what prices are like!
We were lucky - whoever did ours first time round had the sense to drop the pipes down the side of the windows so most of the pipe is hidden by the curtains - when we had it refitted they followed the same route.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Why be ashamed of your plumbing, if it's neatly done? We love our pipes and have painted them to contrast with the walls - purple in the bedroom, bright yellow and metallic green in the bathrooms, red in the study. My husband got a bit carried away in the airing cupboard, we have blue AND red in there depending whether they carry hot or cold water0

elsewhere, i am in 2 minds really. i gave them a quick rub down and painted and you can see in the photo what they look like now. with a new carpet down i guess it wouldnt look too bad.
i am thinking about covering the existing skirting and pipes with a larger skirting board, with a piece of wood screwed to the wall behind bring it 3cm out (depth from wall of pipes). The height would have to be over 15 cm as this is the top of the pipes.0 -
not ashamed of the plumbing lol, just would prefer it hidden, in new builds people are now going for underfloor heating. i think the future is clean lines, no clutter, no pipes etc..0
