It'll be on your CD case or manual or possibly a sticker on the PC Case. Failing that try http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html which'll give you loads of system info including your product keys."She is quite the oddball. Thanks, I have now found it.
However, I have purchased a new laptop which doesn't have Office on it. There was an initial trial period, but that has now expired, and it is giving me the option to purchase Office for £149.
It asks for a product key, and I have tried putting in the code from my old laptop's version, but it won't accept it.
Will I have to buy a new version ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

For a start product keys are specific to the version of office (I'm assuming your trial was for Office 2007 and your old laptop will be earlier). If it's an OEM on your laptop (i.e. came installed) then it's illegal to have it on more than one computer usually.
You could install Open Office for free instead. Or buy MS office (amazon etc). If you're a student or have a school child at home then http://www.software4students.co.uk/ is very cheap. www.theultimatesteal.co.uk is even cheaper if you have an .ac.uk email address (and if the offer is on, which I don't think it is at the moment until next academic year). Also if you're in the NHS or Police I believe you can get it very cheaply directly through your employer."She is quite the oddball. Unfortunately I don't qualify for any of the discounts. I will have a look at Open Office, would I be able to run existing Excel spreadsheets on there ? Also, any idea which website is the best to download it from ?
I have one spreadsheet that I have only saved on the laptop ( know, I know), and because the trial has ended, it will not allow me to save it to memory stick. Is there any way of doing that, or will I lose it ?

The trial having ended will not prevent you from copying the file to a memory stick. You can navigate to the file using Windows Explorer and drag and drop the file onto your stick. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

It is compatible with MS file formats, unfortunately not the Office 2007 ones. It may be worth for the moment installing version 3 beta from the site as that is one of the upcoming features.
If you're charlies_mum then who's charlie? I'm guessing you'd know better than me if there are any school children (or anyone in education) in your house."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I suspect Charlie is a collie. Would being enrolled in obedience classes qualify for the education discount? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

The problem is that the new laptop runs on Windows Vista, and the old one on XP, and even though I can save the file to the memory stick, I can't download it onto the old laptop
Sorry if this is all really simple to sort, I'm not very technicalYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

A file is a file. Shouldn't matter what OS you're using. I suspect you can't load the file on the old laptop because it's in an Office 2007 format and there's nothing on your laptop that can read it. Although you should still be able to copy it across.
This should allow you to view (but not edit) the file on the laptop for free: http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?familyid=1CD6ACF9-CE06-4E1C-8DCF-F33F669DBC3A&displaylang=en
