Sky "Refer a Friend" Voucher Let Down!

Hi

This is my first post so I hope someone can help..

Sky TV have been offering a "refer a friend and both you and your friend will receive £50 M&S vouchers". I signed up with them and during the call setting up the subscription I mentioned that my friend had referred me and asked how I could claim the vouchers. The agent asked me for the name, address and Sky membership number of my friend, which I provided, and he confirmed the registration was complete and the vouchers would be sent out. I also checked if my friend needed to call to claim hers but was assured that she didnt, the vouchers would be sent automatically.

I've had no end of problems i general with the service and I've already lodged a complaint with them - during this correspondence I remembered that I hadnt received the vouchers and asked when I could expect them.

I've been told that they have no record of my registration for this scheme and that "unfortunately, retrospective registration cannot be completed"!!! They offered a £25 credit to my bill as a good will gesture.

I sent an extremely strong written response stating that in no uncertain terms, I would not accept this alternative offer - I asked them to check their call recording to get the proof that the conversation had been had. They responded to say they only partially record calls, and of course, the part where I had this conversation with their agent wasnt recorded

I've threatened to escalate to Trading Standards and Consumer Direct and their response was to encourage me to do that!

I feel so frustrated, it seems that because of their own error they can just claim ignorance and not follow through with the offer. I dont want to let them get away with this, can any advise what I should do next??

Thanks!

When I had problems with sky years ago, I phoned up and asked to speak to there legal dept, with a view of sueing for false advertising. - Mine was because I didnt get a new Sky dish and the old one wouldn't give a signal, the advisors washed there hands of it, until I threatened them. As soon as I requested it the agent took all my details and recitified the matter straight away.- This is after 3 months of phone calls!

IMO Sky is going down hill, I have just left them recently as they do not care about exisitng customers they are more interested in getting new customers and keeping them tied into a 12 month contract.

I believe you needed to send the offer to your friend via email from sky.com, then they click through and order the package.

I did it, and got an email back the day after installation stating all was good and vouchers to follow within 28 days :)
