Travelodge bookings

Has anyone tried to modify a Travelodge booking?
I was wondering if I could change the name on the booking or if I could transfer the booking to another Travelodge.
Thanks.

I think it depends which rate you made the booking under.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

Do you need to change the name of the booking? When you arrive at the lodge, they never ask for booking confirmation code nor proof you are Mr so and so. Therefore my thoughts are that they dont need to know you are using a different name surely??

Under statutory Fire & Safety Regulations and the Anti-Terrorism Act, the hotel would actually be breaking the law if they allow someone to check in when their name is not on the booking.

It's a really weird Act this...
It's absolutely fine to book a room with a double bed using only one of the guest names to hold the room but if it is a twin bedded room, they have every right (and often do) demand the names of both guests.
Chains like Premier Inn and Travelodge are a bit slack on this but the lead name on a booking must always be that of one of the guests or the hotel can be fined.

I've found that the only way to safely change the name on a Travelodge booking is to phone central res. To be honest, it would be far easier to make a new booking for the correct name or hotel and cancel the original as long as you've booked a flexible rate.

Well, I wasnt aware of that, seems daft they dont need proof you are the person that booked it then. we always get a booking confirmation with a ref code, but never get asked for it. they just ask what name the booking is under.

    Sorry for giving duff advice.

It's not you giving duff advice. It's them being slack on their check-in policy because the majority of bookings are prepaid. ;)

Unfortunately it is not a flexible rate, I can no longer go on these days,so I would like to give it to a friend who has had a rough time of late. So I will give them a ring. Thanks for your advice.

Are the Travelodge the only company that takes your fee at the time of booking even if it's a flexible rate ?

A nice little earner in interest from all the bookings even if they have to refund if a person cancels.

I agree with you and now know why Premier Inn wanted to know the name of my kids when I checked in at Liverpool City centre this week.
