Two asks please. I have had a look roung to see if they have been covered elsewhere.
1. Why would Virgin state that the V box must be left in stand-by? I used to switch the digi box off when we had finished viewing, and would want to do the same with the Virgin box.
2. Does anyone know what the basic v box package is likely to be, compared say, with freeview?
Thanks in advance

The V+ box can be left on or in standby. You can only 'switch it off' by disconnecting it from the mains. Leaving it in standby stops the HDD spinning, but it still allows recordings and EPG updates, etc."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

Thanks for that Ok sauce.
If I had taken the time to put up with the tiresome cat and bird characters who inhabit the help menus of the v box, I would have come across, "leave the box in stand-by at all times if it is not in use". Closely followed by, "In order to save the planet, switch off all appliances at the mains, at night, unless something is to be recorded!"
Sorted!
I would still be interested to know if anyone has asked that the v box package of programmes be stripped back to reduce the price, and find out what is left? Same as freeview, less, more!0 -
I have two Virgin boxes that we use and I switch off at the mains every night to, as you say, "save the planet"! Will that do them any harm by doing this?0

I'm sure that's fine for the ordinary V Box, but I wouldn't do that for the V+ box. The only thing that you might not get is all the EPG updates."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

I've been waiting for Virgin to install my cable now for 9 weeks. They are awful!0
