Question re refunding a buyer who paid by PayPal

I asked my mother to post a couple of parcels the other day for me and her car was broken into and the parcels nicked.

I want to refund the full amount to both buyers but I need to know if they will have to pay a PayPal fee to withdraw the funds refunded. If so, I'll compensate them further.

Can anyone advise me please?

TIA

There is a 25p fee for withdrawals if they are under £50.

By the way, good on you for being so thoughtful! :D
  • Thanks masonic, I've just realised I didn't word my post accurately.

What I meant to ask was if I refunded say £50, would the net amount my buyer received be £47 odd? (ie would PayPal have their cut of the original amount the buyer paid and I tried to refund?)

  • No if you issue it as a REFUND through the original payment they will be no charges BUT if you issue it as a payment (without going through originally payment) then yes they will be a charge. HTH

...unless they only have a basic paypal account, of course, in which case there are no charges for receiving funds. :)
  • if you click refund, then NO CHARGES -

a). if they already had funds in their paypal account, it goes back into this.

b). if the monies came via their credit card, the monies will go back to their card - NOT paypal!!!!!!

ALSO, you have no charges and they have NO charges on this transaction.

I have had to do this before and been the recipient............

under the same trasaction ID under paypal, there is an option called REFUND towards the bottom, this ensures a full refund is done.......
