hi just moved home and want to put down laminate wood flooring down in lounge, i need to do this on a budget as the whole house needs sorting. Can anyone tell me if rather than using normal underlay can i use the exsisting carpet (its in good nick, just ugly.) Sorry its a thick question but this is my first house so i don't have a clue.
Everyone i have asked just says "well i don't see why not" but i want a definate yes or no before i do it.
Thanks.

Def. yes!!
I have done exactly that in dining room, living room and girls room.
Makes it a lot less harder to the feel when walking and cuts down on noise from girls bedroom!! So it is def. a money saver.0 -

That depends on the state of the carpet!
If its really dirty, smells or the previous owner had pets, then I would say no!
But I too have done this - not in the lounge, but in the girls room. And it does cut down on noise!0 -
thanks everyone, i didn't want to try it without knowing for definate, especially if i put it down and had to rip it all back up.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
