We deal directly with factories in China. But it's hard work as you will get plenty of issues such as quality, long lead times and large minimum order quantities. Also they sometimes don't send you what you asked for but a similar design they think will be OK! Have some capital to invest in the long term if you plan to stay in this business and use MoneysavingExpert to help you control overheads!

Dealing with China also pre-reqs that you understand the tax- and duty implications, as well as whether any quota applies. Also, there is a lot of fake stuff being produced in China, and you can get in deep trouble if you sell fakes - even if you did so in good faith.

China is a great source but you need to know what you are doing.

Yes I agree. We got to grips with the VAT and Duty stuff quite quickly - but negotiating with Suppliers & Agents is the real work. As for fakes - use your common sense to avoid outright fakes and copyright infringements.
