Unlocking Scam?

  Anyone wishing to unlock their phone be very careful of unlockteam.co.uk.
I know you should always read the small print, but in reality unless you are entering into a contract for buying a house or something big like that, who really does? However with the above company, make sure you do. You have to pay for the unlock code up front, not unreasonable, the web site then goes into eficiency mode, calculates how long it will take for them to e-mail your unlock code, it all looks very professional and then at the expiration of that time, I did not get my unlock code, instead I got a page dedicated to refering me to the small print. Which says they only guarantee to unlock the phones listed in the drop down box and provided it has a price listed along side it. In fact there is only one in that box with a price, a whole load of makes listed, but only one with a price. There is a list of phones in the small print, and these are probably about 80-90% nokia. Forget it if you have pretty much anything else.

It's not a scam. You should have read the terms and conditions.0

Did you not read my post? I started it by saying I should have read the small print. However in this day and age, it is not beyond the bounds of possibilty that, their web site could actually tell you that they are not able to unlock your phone, after all you have to provide them with your IMEI and pretty much your inside leg measurement, and not take your money, as indeed one other 'legimate' site did last time I tried to unlock a phone a few years ago!0

Yes I did see your original post. I was just pointing out that it's not a scam. You have to tick a box to say you've read the terms. If you haven't then that's your fault and not a scam.
I do however find it a bit cheeky that if you select a model they can't unlock then all they do is give you a credit note towards another unlock.0 -
How do you know it's not a scam? Any company that purports to provide a service and does not, what would you call that?0
-
They clearly state which models they can unlock in the terms but as you didn't read them you wouldn't know now would you?
You can't say something is a scam when you freely admit that you didn't read the terms of the service.
As far as I see it there is no evidence to suggest that this is a scam at all.0 -
The site is clearly designed to mislead people, if it were me i'd go to paypal and claim my money back through them.0
-
how can they justify charging people for a service which they must have known they couldn't provide??0
-
Isn't it like buying a new TV but finding an empty box when you get home??
"Sorry Guv, we aint got any TV's but you can have a credit note to spend on something else"
Perhaps not a scam by definition but certainly a site playing on peoples naivity where T&C's are concerned.0 -
of course its a scam, and i just got caught:mad:
another firm, unlock central
and because its only £3.97 i would normally forget it, but not this time
if they cant unlock it, how hard is that to program in the page where i entered my phone details
anyone else that has been caught by one of these firms ?
and anyone who has time to waste telling me i should have read T and C , dont botherliving on the "edge"0
