Found old saving book from Anglia Building Society, I wish i had a little bit more money in it, GRAND TOTAL OF £2.73, it has been in there, well somewhere the past 24years (1984). Did Nationwide Building Society merge with Anglia? Anyone know? and does anyone out there know how much my grand savings be worth now, I am guessing about £12.00 at the most and that is if I can receive it, it may be lost forever!

I would say closer to £3 or £4.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. When clearing out my mums house after she died I found an old National Savings book which showed she deposited £3 in September 1967 and withdrew £2 10 shillings in December 1967. I decided to send it to the mylostaccount.org.uk to see if it was worth anything. A couple of weeks ago I received a cheque for the grand total of 51p! As both myself and my brother are equal beneficiaries of the will we had to split it 50/50.0

Hope you didn't fall out too much over that odd penny :beer:0 -

The account will probably have become dormant and therefore earn a pitiful amount of interest.0

That would without doubt have gone dormant a long time ago as agsnu said. Not sure what the dormancy rate is. Have a feeling it's the normal account rate. As most are probably CashBuilder accounts it couldnt get much lower could it!0

If the average interest rate over the 24 years was 5% then tax free it would be worth around £8.80. At basic rate tax it would be around £7.00.0
