Redacted DVD...
FROM BRIAN DE PALMA, THE DIRECTOR of Carlito's Way, Mission Impossible and Black Dahlia comes Redacted, a unique cinematic experience that will force viewers to radically reconsider the filters through which we see and accept events in our world, the power of the mediated image and how presentation and composition influence our ideas and beliefs.
Packing an "extraordinary emotional punch" and described as "Casualties of War for the You Tube generation", Redacted is centred around a small group of American soldiers stationed at a checkpoint in Iraq.
Redacted alternates points of view, balancing the experiences of these young men under duress and members of the media with those of the local Iraqi people and by doing so it illuminates how each have been deeply affected by the current conflict and their encounters with each other — and exposes the extreme disconnect between the surface of an image and the reality of ideas and the truth, especially in times of strife.
Redacted goes on sale from 28 July and MotorBar has two copies to give away, so if you would like a chance of winning simply answer the following question:
Who directed Carlito's Way?
Answer: Brian De Palma
Then email your answer to redacted@motorbar.co.uk before the closing date of 31 July. Please make sure you put REDACTED in the subject line. Also include your name, address, age and a daytime telephone number.
