Options
Hi All

Not used to having one of these, just installed recently. Whats the best way to clean these, glass-tiles-plastic base etc.

Cheers

Marco

    :hello: Hi marco ...

... a bleach solution (welll diluted bleach) will be sufficient to kill bacteria and prevent mold. Rinse after adn be careful not to splash the bleach solution on your clothes/carpet/flooring/towels :D

Solution Ratio: 4ltr water - approx 150mls bleach.

El cheapo bleach is just as good as the expensive stuff - you can make up a solution in an old spray bottle ... each time the shower is used (or weekly if time is an issue) a quick spritz, rinse - job done!!! :)

If you live in a hard water area and get discolouring on the shower tray, a quick wipe with neat vinegar on some kitchen roll removes all the marks. I couldn't believe it the first time I tried it.

    Good point, Pink ...

.. it will still need a rinse afterwards though ... vinegar is acid based. Lemon juice (or a rub down with a lemon half) is equally effective, but again, it should be rinsed afterwards.

Queenie, I do rinse it afterwards, it's so automatic for me that I just didn't think to mention it. :o

    marco,

I use diluted vinegar on glass and clean off with scrunched up newspaper.

  • In the past I have had to use limescale remover which I got, if I remember correctly, from Lidl. i tried vinegar but it just wouldn't shift the marks on my shower door.

The bleach solution, vinegar solution, lemon solution should *all* work with a new shower cubicle ...

.. arkonite_babe - built up stains will often respond better to the bleach solution method; but instead of a wipe-on-rinse-off method .. you would need to wipe-on-leave-for-a-couple-of-hours-then-rinse method.

    HTH :D

  • Queenie, I don't need to worry about that now! The shower was in the flat we lived in until the end of the summer. I now have my own house and it doesn't have a shower. I miss it, but don't miss cleaning it, that's someone else's problem now! :rotfl:
