Help with copying photographs to CD

Hi
Can anyone help me with advice on the best way to scan/ copy photographs to CD or DVD?
I bought a Visioneer 9020 on Friday and have scanned quite a few photographs but can only play back the CD through my pc, the home DVD player cant read the format.
The photos have been formatted to BMP by the software that came with the scanner, "Adobe Photoshop Elements".
I'm wondering if I will have to upgrade the software as its only "elements", also my home DVD player is a 4 year old Sony that cannot be hacked via the remote control, so that's likely a problem. Lastly I have a DVD burner in the PC, would it make any difference burning the photos onto DVD?
Any advice would be much appreciated,
Thanks

You can Import the Photos in Windows Movie Maker free with XP..And then save
a Movie File so that Photos will play back as a Slideshow...On a CDrom0 -
Thanks for your advice Mr Skint, will do that with the batch of photos I'm scanning this afternoon.0

My version of elements can export scanned images as jpegs, I cant check right now as the other pc is encoding video but there should be an option to export scanned images as jpegs and then providing your dvd player supports reading jpegs its just a matter of recording with your favourite cd/dvd burning program on to a cdr/dvdr to playback.0

Opps it maybe that your dvd player doenst support jpegs most cheapo players will and have doine for several years the likes on big corporations have only recentlky started this.
I use Ulead moviefactory to export sometime jpegs and video to dvd. Ulead do free trial, if you have broadband why not try a free demo. ulead.com0 -
Thanks for your advice Poppycat regarding changing the option on "Adobe Photoshop Elements" to jpegs, I have looked at the options on the version I have and don't seem to have jpegs as an available option unless I have overlooked something? Guess I will have to upgrade as I would prefer to scan all photos as jpegs for e mail purpose.0

Maybe import the files the convert them all with a batch conversion program.

Sounds like you got a cripple version of it hence can't save as jpegs. Odd though because jpegs are one if not the most common format for photo's0
