Check Your Receipts!!!!

Coming across this on a regular basis.

Started at Christmas last year when Asda had three bottles of wine for £10.00 which wasn't as the till was not computing the offer and came up at full price. Took receipt to customer service and requested the discount.
The 'lady' said they were not on offer so dragged her to the shelves and pointed out the offer, she then stated that one of the wines were not included - anyway after evil looks she eventually gave me the discount and I returned to the shelf and promptly moved the bottles which were not in the offer. (Nothing stops me!!!)

Anyway - Tesco are also coming in on this one -
Fairy Naturals Fabric con 1L bottle - shelf price £1.65 till price £2.30.
Lotus thirst pockets 2pk - shelf price £1.37 till price £1.99

That's an extra £1.27 on me shopping!!!! Took receipt got the difference given back. May not be alot of pennies but is to me!!!
But imagine how many other people walk out relying on the till price. That's how they get their profit!! Duh!!!

So please check receipts thoroughly and make sure that they do not leave the shelf price missing after removing them when the error is pointed out!!!

I always always check my receipts before leaving the store.... 8/10 times I find some error. OH does the eyes to heaven bit........... but we spent far to much in there as it is.

A customer service assiant once said to me '' I never leave the store without checking my bill, they usually mess up somewhere!''

It pays to complain!! stand up for what is rightfully yours!!

I once got charged £33 for a cucumber in Asda, got the money back, plus a free cucumber and a £2 voucher for me trouble as well.

Labels - My daughter (9) and I always remove the label if incorrect. I am totally aware of 'The Lure' as i call it to suck you in and pick up the product not knowingly that it is incorrect.

Went to a panel meeting held by Tesco once and mentioned this incorrect labelling and they just see it as a small oversight - I said small oversights can also be illegal - which it is.

Also the other 'scam' is when there is a BOGOF offer but no product on the shelf to comply - mention this at Customer Service and they should either go to the stock room and collect the goods for you or give you a credit note to collect for another time - this is POLICY!

maybe its me but if theres none of a BOGOF product on the shelf then i dont buy it, why should i waste my time if the supermarket dont have the staff to fill the special offers up,

If you get overcharged in Asda (quite likely!) then remember to 'remind' ;) them about the £2 gift card they owe you.
I always find sainsburys the worst for overcharging - nowt for your trouble, they just throw the money at you in horror that you are the kind of person who quibbles over 20p.

Better in my pocket than yours, pal. :)

Have had problems at both Tesco and Lidl as well as several stalls at local market (which is not unexpected). Tesco did have policy if they overcharged you got item free.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • I don't think that they really aim to charge more than what it says on the ticket label. I used to work at ASDA and they were actually really really annoyed when stuff wasn't labled properly because Trading Standards can fine them thousands of pounds for having it labelled as something and coming up on the till as more expensive.
I really don't think it's a con, it's just difficult to keep track of prices. Let's face it, if it was a con, it would have been heavily publicised, Tesco would probably have been brought to the cleaners by Trading Standards, and would probably be in the gutter wailing by now.

I would say it has never been easier to keep track of prices. The old methods would have required a massive list, then someone identifying the products on the shelf then applying the labels and then applying the price sticker (remember those pricing guns!!!)

None of that now, scan product into warehouse, update datebase, print off offer labels, apply to shelf, stock shelf, scan product and label to ensure they match - job done. Human element is kept to a minimum.

It is not always the fault of the store if BOGOF offers are not available. A lot of the promotion availability is decided by Head Office with no consideration for local sales. Quite often the items that sell most are in shortest supply, but the staff in the store get all the grief for something that is out of their control
