Well I have my Creative Vado and it works a dream! It is so so easy and the quality is much better than I thought when we uploaded it. (Actually I haven't uploaded properly yet as I have yet to read the instructions - I just connected the USB and played back off the Vado.)
If anyone else is thinking about one have a look on Youtube http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dDAiFpQZSDEsomewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
I bought this camcorder:

For £6, than £3 for a 1GB SD card, and it's great. 40 minutes of recording, alright quality as well. Saves the clips into AVI's, so no need to capture.
Whatever you do, do not buy one that saves onto DVD. You'll be wasting all your money on DVD's!
Unfortunetly I got the camcorder from eBay, so it'll be hard to find the exact one again. However it's great for what I use it for (attatching to kites!)0 -
I think this is what you are probably looking for http://www.tts-group.co.uk/Product.aspx?cref=TTSPR826817 have just purchased some, not used them yet so can't comment on how the videos/pictres turn out but they do look very simple to use.0

Thank you - that is just what I am looking for (for the kids - I have my Vado!) These look very robust. Do let me know how you get on with them please. Are you a teacher?somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

We have about 25 of the Digi blue cameras and they are fantastic for doing projects that the kids have created. The software is really easy to use and can be used to edit and improve the movies. Sound effects titles, all sorts can be used to create fab projects. Our year 6's have used them the last couple of years to create fantastic Macbeth movies.

Hey that sounds fantastic Sealady and just the way to teach Macbeth too . This is the brand I was originally searching for, though I can see there are now others that are similar. Thank you.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0

Sorry it's taken me a while to reply, the camera is very easy to use and the children have had great fun using it, the video is also very good - includes sound unlike some camera's. Incidently I'm not a teacher - work in a nursery!!0 -
Thanks Skippy. I can see I'm spoilt for choice as there are one or two suitable for use with the kids.
And sorry for the confusion as I meant that Sealady (who is teaching Macbeth to Yr 6s) is obviously a teacher.
There is a lot of exciting new technology happening for early years settings and schools - it's a job to keep up!somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
