Christmas in Malaga or Madrid?

Having spent a superb 5 day trip to Barcelona last Christmas we would like to do it again. We are 4 adults and cannot choose between Malaga (warmer?) or Madrid (more to do?)
Has anyone been to either at this time of the year? We enjoy doing the 'cultural things', good eating and drinking and not too fussed about shopping.
Any help would be very gratefully received as we have a 2/2 split as which one to choose!:beer:
