Christmas hotel breaks UK

Anyone done a good Xmas break in recent years? I'm talking about the sort of place that does good meals, good service, comfortable rooms, in a nice (maybe historical) setting. Not a full programme with quizzes and parties etc., just somewhere quiet with meals included. To start the ball rolling, I can thoroughly recommend The Bell at Malmesbury where we went last year, and The Chaucer Hotel at Canterbury where we went a few years back. But I'd like to find somewhere different for this year. Recommendations?

Thanks kitty. I'll follow that up. That's the way I feel about The Old Bell.0
