Pictures from DVD

Hi all please be gentle with me and apologies in advance if I sound dumb!

Recently got married and my bro in law took the pics, he put them on a DVD for me using his macbook, I run a windows vista machine and when I put the DVD in it plays the pics in chapters which is annoying but I cannot seem to find anyway of capturing still pics from it. Is there a way of doing it or some free software I can download to do it for me?

Right click on your CD/DVD drive and select explore.

This should bring up a regular file browser of the disk contents. Then from there depending on if he just wrote the files as jpg or other image file or if the mac software automatically writes it into a slideshow format you should be able to just select view / thumbnails and browse the folders and see the pics in thumbnails and then open individual pictures using MS picture browser.

thanks for that I can get to view the thumbnails but it wont open them when I try to double click them, they are coming up as .VOB files

One easy way is just to do a screen grab when the pics are on screen- press Prt Scr on your keyboard, then open up Paint and paste into there. You can then edit out the bits of the screen you don't want.

It's not the best quality but if all else fails....

Can't he just burn you another DVD with the image files on it?

Hi thanks for all your replies he is gonna burn me another with the images but he is overseas at the moment and wont be back until the beginning of october so I thought if there was an easy way of grabbing the pics I could get them that way!
