Yeah it does seem that a lot of cowboys operate in this area - It amazes me how they can get away with it to be honest. There's clearly no governing body.

1stchoice.co.uk, have in fact been quite helpful. I initially rang them up for advice on what to do, but it eventually turned out that they were the middle man between me and the dismantlers. They arranged with them collection of the engines, and have chased up the refund for me several times, basically because I was sick of talking to the dismantlers myself, and found myself getting really irritated on the phone to them.

Thankfully, the cheque for the full amount that I paid them arrived this morning. So that's a start. I've been waiting 2 weeks for this refund, and only now does it turn up when I threatened them over the phone to take them to a small claims court.

Oh, I might aswell name and shame them. BELLS AUTO SPARES. Beware of these!!!

Mixed opinions on the forum here. I figure a few letters to the head office, eventually warning them I'll take them to small claims court MIGHT be enough to get them to pay some if not all of the labour charge, even as a good will gesture. What's the cost of a few letters? Certainly nothing in comparison to what I owe the garage, that's for sure!!!

I think I might seek advice from a solicitor before I go ahead with the small claims court though, to see if it's worth going through with it from their point of view.
