Holiday refund - advice please

Hi

I've booked a camping holiday in Cornwall with my boyfriend and dog for Sept. According to a well-known camping mag, the site we chose accepted dogs. However I've found out - after I've made the booking - that they do not. I mentioned on the booking form that we'd be taking a dog and the site accepted the booking. Now they are saying we can't take the dog. I've said I'd like to cancel and want a refund but they are saying no.

Am I right in thinking they should offer a full refund??

Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

send them a photocopy of the magazine page and a photocopy of your booking form where you mentioned about the dog and ask for a refund
then take it from there. If you have no joy take them to the small claims court. If you have the documentation they wont have a leg to stand on,
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • That's great, thanks for your help.

It is the inclusion on the booking form which will be the crux of the matter,by including it you made it part of the booking contract.

The magazine article will not carry as much weight unless it was an advert put in by the site themselves,as the writer may have made the mistake not the site, and it would also have been up to you to confirm it was correct before booking.

Not necessarily. It depends on how/ where it was written on the booking form. For instance, if was in a section entitled 'Special Requests (requests cannot be guaranteed)' then it will hold little weight. You need to look at the document as a whole, including any stated terms and conditions.

I do agree about the magazine article, this has no bearing unless it was an advertisement.
    Gone ... or have I?

I agree that if it was written as you worded above it would not carry as much weight, but even then, as it was included, and the booking was accepted,it would be reasonable to have told the customer that dogs were not allowed before confirming the booking.

The inclusion of information about bringing a dog cannot be equated to, for example, a request for a particular room, caravan etc which may be able to be met, but could not be guaranteed. If they do not accept dogs that is a definite policy which the customer needed to be aprised of prior to confirmation.
