This is a very sad day for everyone in our town, I can't begin to imagine how the parents are feeling. My heart goes out to them. whatever happens please please make time to talk to your children, we have spent the last few days in tears with ours,
Am blubbing as I write this, such a waste of a young life, so much to live for, a beautiful child.
2011, this will be my year .

DD had to attend such a service last year bang in the middle of the A levels exams. Again, it was a girl who took her own life...exam stress plus issues with her BF and another girl in the group. DD and the girl were choir members, so as a tribute to her the choir sang a few songs at the service...yes, they were in floods of tears and I feared she wouldn't be up to her exam the next day.
Strangely though, they all coped well - I think the way they openly cry and talk things through these days seems to help. All the teachers were tearful at the service and everyone was very supportive of each other. Plus they all posted on the websites like myspace and gonetoosoon...basically "got it all out" I think.
Still....a year on, and the kids have all moved on with their lives, yet the parents will still be totally devastated. A sad and tragic waste of a promising young life.0 -
Sometimes teenagers realise that they don't say "I love you" to their parents...maybe the sad events have prompted her to say this.....my DS's did the same when their grandmother died, and wanted me to know that they loved me but couldn't say so, being big hard 19 & 17 year olds.0

I know how you and your daughter are feeling

One of my best friends also took his life at 14 and it devistated the hole school and not just those closest to him.
On October 7th it will be 14 years since this happened and I know none of us will ever forget that day

These sad early losses of life come as a shock to teenagers who are not used to death. It is probably the first close death she has encountered and when young people are usually full of aspiration and plans for the future, it brings a sudden harsh touch of reality into their worlds that they are not prepared for. Just be there for her and provide a close loving environment. Her world has been rocked and this death and memorial service probably marks the end of her childhood innocence about life. The harsh realities of adulthood always take a while to sink in with the realisation that life can sometimes be very unexpected, and very hard to deal with.0

im 21 and tell my family i love them everyday, life is too short and if anything happens to me or them they know that i love them, i had a really bad car crash nearly 3 years ago i could of died that night i was lucky i guess but it made me realise i didnt say it enough.
Its so sad to see young people killing themselves over exams when to be honest they dont really prepare you for the real world of work and money.
