Cheap Hotel near East Midlands Airport

Hi

We are coming back from Spain on 4th Sept and arriving at EMA around 10pm. My sisters kids will be with us and as they are only 1 and 3 will be very tired. We thought we'd try and find a hotel for the night, does any one have any reccomendations pretty close to the airport or nearest train station as we will not be in car.

the skylink bus service runs through the night and takes you to the centre of nottingham if thats any use?

There's a Travelodge at the M1 junction service station which is only around a mile from EMA. Make sure you have good directions in advance as the tourist info people at the desk don't have a clue! If you get a taxi from the airport they have extortionate fixed rates. I think it was £6 or £8 for the mile - we had to walk back to the airport for a taxi after we got lost with aforementioned useless info desk's instructions. The Travelodge was alright, just like any other, and can be very cheap booked well in advance. There's a bus stop quite near by for the Skylink into Derby or Nottingham, so you don't have to go back to the airport in the morning.
