Hi everyone,
Been researching dog insurance. Has anybody heard of PetProtect? They seem to have good policies. Any good/bad experiences would be good!

We have Pet Protect (formerly Animalcare) for both our cats and they have been brilliant.
They always pay out, and 1 cat alone has cost several thousand pounds in just 3 years - with chronic conditions that she will need further care for. They have paid for diets (50% i think), behaviourists, and referral work. They even paid when she appeared to be choking to death and we rushed her to the emergency vet, and it turned out 3 days later to be a hairball (v embarrasing for me as I'm a Vet Nurse)!
They are a smaller company than Pet Plan but the policies are very similar, and they don't have the postcode pricing, which makes a massive difference in London. Haven't heard a anything bad about them.Give yourself a Chistmas bonus £14 a week!
Total so far £280 -
They do be seeming to work out cheaper for good cover lifetime policies.0

Pet Protect (along with E&L) are one company that we don't accept direct payments from. From a vet's point of view, they are unreliable at paying bills directly to vets so we insist that we get paid in full by the client.0

Interesting, I have heard nothing but bad things about E&L.
Our vets claim direct from Pet Protect and always have done - never had a payment later than 7 days after claim gone in, including for chronic rhinitis, and her insurance says they won't cover anything related to cat flu!!!
Maybe we are just lucky, and they probably spend more time on 1 of our cats than is normal!Give yourself a Chistmas bonus £14 a week!

Pet Protect start taking off unpaid premiums from the vets fees leaving us to chase up your premiums if you pet has died or you cancel your policy. I don't want the hassle of chasing someone for a premium (for the rest of the policy year) if their pet has died so therefore, we don't accept direct payments0

I've been with PetProtect since getting our choc lab last August (we rehomed him aged 19 mths). No problem with claims being paid and they even paid the vet direct with no problem and very quickly. My only gripe is that because I claimed (anal gland removal op - just over £1,000) my renewal premium has gone up from £19/mth to £34/mth!! Problem is if I try to change insurers they won't cover something previously claimed for although as the glands have now gone presumably they can't cause any more problems! (But I suspect that if he has problems in that region of his anatomy I'll have problems claiming!).0
