Aol And Mbna Card

I just had a letter from MBNA telling me that they are closing my account after 4 years!
Apparently they are no longer doing the AOL card?
AOL points have to redeemed by 30/11/08.

I got a letter about this as well, But seeing I fell out with them a few months back, I am not bothered.

It was a good card for 0% balance transfers but when they ended they tried to charge me interest on a 0 balance.

I got my money back they then reduced my limit to £200, I was only using up reward points and was going to close it then. They have saved me the price of a stamp lol.

they were my best card for the 0% rates but oh well will have to find another now
  • AOL and MBNA have ended their partnership. I believe existing customers will have a choice of whether to get a card with MBNA, or close their AOL accounts. Not sure if AOl are doing their own credit card services, or if they're just finishing with AOL cards completely.

I had a letter yesterday saying that the APR on my AOL card is increasing from 17.9% to 27.9% next month  . Needless to say I'm looking for a new card with 0% balance transfers!

  • Just an update on this ridiculous card - I paid off nearly all the balance on this card with a balance transfer. I was paying £255 a month prior to that, then my statement showed that my next payment would be £281 on a tenth of my previous balance! I phoned MBNA and the CSA tried to run rings round me explaining this - not sure if he knew himself! - but I just said I would I would pay off the balance and cancel the DD. I got my statement yesterday which shows a credit because they received the DD payment but it wasn't taken from my bank because I cancelled it in plenty of time. I will never touch another MBNA card - the only good thing about it was the freephone number!
