After cleaning washing machine still leaves residue bits on clothes, what to do?

Please can somebody advise something? I switched to biological powder and washed on 60 deg(was washing on 30 before all the time) and it was first time I noticed weird brown sort of bits on clothes after washing. Cleaned detergent drawer, rubber seal, window, filter, put a hottest empty cycle thinking I've got rid of the problem only to find out bits are still there(can see them on the window while it's washing.. Desperate:( Where do they come from?

The bits will be clinging to the ridges on the back of the drum. I took a machine apart a few years back and filled a 1 litre tub up with the gunge out of the drum  . I would suggest several v hot washes with a small amount of bio.

Thanks for the advice molerat. OH took it apart today, checked all the pipes, all seemed pretty clean, nothing obvious. Can you really take drum apart as well? We looked at it and didn't find anywhere to unscrew. Washed today at 30 again and a lot less bits, surely hot temperature makes them come out. Washing machine is only a year old which is saddest.

small stains after/during washing are usually oil or rust, an indication that the drum bearings are on there way out, with the m/c empty and door open spin the drum by hand, it should be smooth and free to turn, any lumpyness/resistamce/looseness will confirm the diagnosis

Thanks kaya. Tried to spin the drum, feels pretty smooth. If it's a drum problem why did it happen? Is it me doing smth wrong(although how can you do smth wrong, it's only a washing machine lol) As I said it's only been bought last year:(
  • Could just be bits of mould and fluff dislodged by the hot wash. It shouldn't be necessary to dismantle the drum, which might cause a leak from the seal.

I would try doing a rinse fill then drain a couple of times to flush them out, then clean the filter again. Then do another 90C wash with washing powder and soda crystals or oxy-bleach (watch out for excessive foam - pause the cycle if this happens). Then rinse fill and drain several times and clean the filter again.

    Timbuckteeth mentioned the answer.

    Clean the filter.
Pour 500g of Soda Crystals into an otherwise empty drum.
Run the machine on a 'boil' wash.
Clean the filter again. You will be amazed how much 'rubbish' has been dislodged.
