40GB MP3 Player for £99.99 (Spend 1p more or tempt Argos for £10 voucher too)

This seems quite cheap for 40gb

Obviously it is not as attractive as the iPod or whatever, but in reality all I do with my MP3 player is have a random playlist and leave it in my pocket all day. I would assume this is hard drive based as 40gb is quite expensive in flash memory terms.

Looks a good enough present for the kids going "I want a MP3 player!" even though they probably don't know what "MP3" means ;)

  • That is quite cheap but also quite chunky. Makes me think there might be a 3.5" drive inside.
  • Does anyone know how realiable it will be? I wouldn't like it if the hard drive kept failing everytime it got a bit of a jolt!

looks like a radio 12 cm width, your kids might not use it outside worth considering.

Ive got to be honest.. this is a complete waste of money.
As sad as it is.. image is important to most people.
You could get a 4gb of something else... which is fashionable.. and better brand etc.. that will do a better job.
No point having 40gb if you wont want to be seen with it. And KIDS wont want that to show their mates.
I doubt the battery etc is up to much either.
As they say.. size isnt everything

All reports that I have read suggest the battery lasts between 11 and 18 hours so very good.

I couldn't give a fig about image, 40gb of music in my car all the time for less than £100, can't be bad

Ok, picked one up from Argos today........its going back! Feels very cheap (probably cos it was cheap!) but I was planning to use it in the car and felt it would be battered within a month.

Probably because it was made my Alba. And just to warn you, most MP3 players are exempt from their 16day returns policy . Hopefully that 1 is returnable tho

The very slight scratch on the side near to the power connection would suggest to me its been used before anyway so hopefully they do take them back

Edit: The website say this -We offer a 16 day money back guarantee, please refer to Returns and refunds. Some products are excluded from the Guarantee and are clearly marked by a † next to the product name.

I can see nothing next to the product name so should be ok!

Bean - it'll say on the reciept if it is exempt

I've returned an MP3 player before though and it said in big bold letters on the reciept that it's exempt from the 16 days money back guarantee - but they still refunded it. (Said it was unwanted gift)

You shouldn't have any problems though as like you say, you suspect it has been used. I bought some hair clippers last year and they were covered in someone else's hair
