Price capping
Options
I'm not sure about price capping. I am with British Gas and if I price cap for two years, at the end of the two year period is my bill going to increase by whatever price rises there have been. And if so am I not just as well to take the price increases as and when they happen rather than in one big hit.

Not really, because at least if you cap you will be paying lower prices for the next 18months, if you dont cap and ride the price increases then you will pay more over the coming months than if you were capped.
Yes you'll get hit by the price rises all in one go at the end but Id rather that than pay over the odds in the meantime. You could always save up a bit to soften the blow at the end of the cap.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I for one Barval would sooner find the cheapest supplier, then spend time and effort and money on reducing consumption.
That way cheaper bills permanently.Capping and constant shifting just play into the hands of the energy providers.0 -
Capped deals may not be the cheapest tariffs on the market, but i guess they will look a bargain in a few months' time, and the savings they bring over the long term will outweigh the initial expense.
Its more than taking a punt on the direction of prices. Its knowing for certain how much your outgoings will be for the length of the contract.0
