SKY+ Installation Dilema ?

Options
Having Sky+ installed next week. But am worried there will be a problem when the engineer does the install because on my BT line I've had all outgoing calls barred.

I do understand that the telephone line needs to be connected to the box for 12mths. But will there be a problem ???

What numbers does the sky+ box call, will these numbers also be barred ?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

i never had mine connected so don't worry......i lived in germany at the time so couldn't connect it!!!

SO do not worry just say to him on the day your phone line is down
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

Hi, Ive had sky+ for a few weeks now.

You can pay sky £25 for what they call a 'manual activation fee'. You then dont have to connect the box to a phone line. During my install the installer did get the box to dial out to pair up the card and box (previous installs they had done this on their mobile)

You also need to do a dial out to set up remote record if you want it.

    Hope this helps.

Can you still call 0800 / 0808 Freephone numbers on your phone? If so, you'll have no problem with the call back.

Once the channels are active and the installer has gone as long as you don't have another box and therefore multi room, you don't need the box connected - Sky don't police single box installs. If you do have multi room and you can dial freephone numbers then there's no problem.

    I wouldn't bother with the £25 manual activation unless you can't dial 0800 / 0808 freephone numbers.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
