Sky signal problems

Not sure whether to post here or techie so posting on both (sorry if I'm wrong)
For the last few weeks the signal on our 'paid for sky keeps disappearing (for 4 hours today) but it's OK on the freeview channels. Done all the usual (turn off at plug etc) but still keeps happening. OH rang sky and did a systems check and they said it was OK so would have to send an engineer out at £65 (gulp - luckily he didn't agree) OH wants to pay to get it sorted and refuses to let me cancel so do any of you kind folks have any idea whta the problem is?

If you threaten to cancel (and actually insist on it) they usually fix it for free
My mate got his sky fixed for free or new sky plus for £48 including installation!
Tell them you were thinking of cancelling as you are getting a freeview PVR for your birthday.
A new sky + gives you a years guarantee with the box and a new box / cable and LNB (and maybe a dish)baldly going on...0 -
Sorry not to have got back sooner - weird thing is that it seems to go off in the morning when the sun gets hot and comes back on when it has moved around the house - went off about 11 this morning and is back now - may be a coincidence but???? rang sky again yesterday and because it is so weird they offered a free courtesy call-out (didn't even have to threaten to cancel!!) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!0
